DeKalb, IL Wedding Photographer

It seems like just yesterday I was driving down to Nashville to photograph Andrew & Emilee’s engagement session, and now they’re husband and wife! While I traveled for their engagement session, their wedding was literally two minutes from my house here in DeKalb, IL, which was quite a change for me! Usually I’m off in the suburbs or in Chicago, so a two minute commute was a great change of pace! It was also nice because it felt like a little tour of the some of the more iconic parts of my hometown. They got ready at the Hotel at Holmes Student Center (which I didn’t even know was a thing even after 29 years of living here, but it was the perfect location for them!), had their First Look at the Lagoon, Wedding Party Pictures at the Ellwood House, ceremony at First United Methodist Church (which is right next door to my favorite place in town: THE LIBRARY!), and the reception was at the Barsema Alumni & Visitor’s Center. Not a bad way to see the town! Andrew and Emiliee’s June wedding day itself was beautiful…not too hot and not too sunny, and even though it drizzled just a skosh, it held off until the reception, and it didn’t stop us from whipping out the clear umbrellas to get out for a few more images of Andrew and Emilee while their guests finished up dinner. All in all, I couldn’t have asked for a better way to kick off my 2019 wedding season!
