The Ellwood House, DeKalb, IL Engagement Photography | Tyler & Leslie

You all know how I have the best clients? Well, Leslie and Tyler are no exception!! I think my consult with them lasted about 2 hours, and we talked about wedding stuff for maybe a grand total of 45 minutes. The rest of the time was spent chatting about homeschooling, Dave Ramsey, and the fact that we literally live right around the corner from each other (I mean, what are the odds?? First time in my 10 years of doing this!). It’s a good thing we get along so well because I got to have an extra dose of these two when their first engagement session was semi rained out. We spent about 2 minutes outside before it started drizzling, and Tyler, Leslie, and I braved it for about 15 minutes before the downpour started and we were forced to move inside. Thankfully we had already planned on doing a portion of our session inside the Ellwood-Nehring House, but we weren’t able to get images outside around the Ellwood House, or with their pup at another local park as we had planned. We were able to squeeze in another quick shoot to get the rest of the images and I’m so glad we were able to make it work! They’ve had so much practice that I fully expect Tyler and Leslie to be pros when I show up to their wedding in April (JK guys ;) )!
Aside from getting to hang out with two cool people, my time with them was also fun because I was in a different situation than I normally find myself in for a shoot, and was therefore forced to try new things and step outside of my comfort zone. The images in this post are in some ways a little different than my norm and I’m really proud of how they turned out. I’m excited to share and I hope you all love these as much as I do!
