Saint Mark's, Geneva, IL Intimate Wedding & Backyard Reception

If you asked me to sum up Phill and Sarah’s wedding in just a couple words, I’d choose joy and laughter. I realize that seems a little on the nose for a wedding, but it was one of the first weekends where small weddings were allowed again here in IL so it felt like all emotions were heightened as a result. Or at least *my* emotions/perception of emotions were heightened, probably because it was my first time around more than 10 people in months. Being around that much happiness and celebration after things were so dark was like experiencing things for the first time. It was surreal, and it felt good to be back.

Another thing that was so special about this day was the amount of surprises that had been planned for Sarah & Phill. After canceling their pre-covid reception plans and moving to Sarah’s parent’s backyard, Sarah’s mom, Deri, played a big roll in the planning and decorating. Documenting Sarah’s shocked face during every step of the day after seeing everything come together was such a treat. (Huge, HUGE shout out to Deri and everyone who helped her pull this wedding together for Phill & Sarah!! Your hard work did not go unnoticed, and you never would have known that this happened in the midst of a global pandemic!!) Congrats, Sarah and Phill, and I hope these past two months have been nothing but bliss!
